Intro to Woodwork
This course, as the name suggests, is an introduction to woodworking practices, and is for complete beginners.
This course covers basic skills and tools.
No previous woodworking experience is needed or required.
Throughout the course, you'll receive step-by-step guidance as you learn via the construction of the project.
Learn how to use traditional joinery in its most simplest form.
You will learn:
Naming conventions of timber
Measuring & marking out systems
6 x entry level hand and power tools
Simple joinery techniques
Correct gluing and clamping processes

Table Making
The project for this course is a contemporary, console table with classic lines that will be the highlight of any home.
With elegant, tapered legs and low shelf, this design and the satisfaction of making it, will ensure it takes pride of place in any room.
Being able to measure and mark out effectively is key to this build.
This course can be done with nothing more than a willing attitude.
This build comes with the opportunity to work with one of the best Australian hardwoods, Victorian Ash.
You will learn:
Traditional table design utilising modern joinery methods
Power tools, such as Domino, Biscuit Joiner, and Routers
Traditional hand tool skills
How to plan and make items of furniture

The Fred Chair
This course requires a small amount of woodworking confidence and skill.
Some previous woodworking experience is desirable, though being able to measure and mark out effectively is the key to this build.
You will be guided step-by-step through the construction, with prepared timber components and detailed instruction.
This build comes with the opportunity to work with a select range of the best Australian hardwood timbers.
You will learn:
Complex joinery skills such as halving and domino joints
Traditional and modern tools, such as Spokeshaves, Handplanes and Domino Joiners.
Sequenced construction
The Fred Chair is based on Australian designer Fred Ward’s Patterncraft Chair No:7, circa 1948.

Intro to Polishing
On this course:
You will learn the process of effectively preparing surfaces ready for applying stains & finishes.
You will be introduced to a range of finishing products and how to apply them.
This course is based on trialling techniques and products on timber samples.
You will learn:
Surface preparation: Dent removal and effective sanding processes
Application techniques: brush & rag
The difference between staining & polishing
Types of finishes: Varnish, Natural oils, Waxes
Sessions: 2 x 2 hour
