It has been said ‘Placing a footstool beneath someone's tired soles is nothing less than a royal gesture’.
With this in mind, we can start to understand the role footstools have played in history, and our lives.
From royal places, to humble miners’ cottage, footstools have found a place in our homes and hearts.
Personally, I have a preoccupation with footstool creation, for me they are the quintessential furniture item.
They can be made from the smallest of off-cuts of wood, they flaunt a glimpse of timber’s unique beauty, and most importantly they function as an invaluable practical item in any room.
